Summary: Across more than three decades, we chronicled the rise and fall of the Three Mothers, a trio of witches that tried and failed to tear the world asunder. Today, we see the very first one again. But things are going to be different. VERY different.

History: The Markos Dance Academy holds a dark secret. It is in fact run by a coven of witches that serve Mater Suspiriorum, the Mother of Sighs, and an emissary of Death. Leading this coven is Helena Markos, who's so off her rocker that she claims to be the Mother herself, hence her other title, Mother Markos. A few new students are about to realize that they've made one Hell of a mistake coming here, particularly Susie Bannion.

Final Fate: During the ritual that will put Markos in a younger body, Susie reveals that SHE is Mater Susperiorum, and she has the feminine avatar of Death blow up the heads of everyone, while she herself kisses Markos to death. She then does the same as a mercy killing for the other mutilated victims, making sure to give the one true survivor amnesia so he doesn't remember the witches.

Powers/Abilities: Shapeshifting, command of Death, memory erasing, a kiss of death.

Weakness: None.

Scariness Factor: 4-In all honesty, most of the terror comes from the actions of her misguided followers. But Suspiriorum is no joke. She is still as powerful and dangerous as ever. And dear Lord, that opening on her chest with all the sexual imagery! However, she is much more enigmatic, and it's not entirely clear if she's even truly evil or not.

Trivia: -Dario Argento has made his opinion clear on this film. He sees it as not a remake of his work, but something else entirely. He respects it, but he knows that it is not anything like he would make.

-Director Luca Guadagnino apparently had wanted to remake this film ever since he saw it decades ago. He also vowed to make something that was its tonal opposite, right down to the aesthetic, music, and plot. We'd say that was a stupid idea, but damn, the execution was not what we expected!
